John is a certified clinical sports massage specialist who has massaged amateur, college, Olympic and professional teams and athletes since 1999 as a state licensed and nationally certified massage therapist.
In addition to his private practice of relaxation and recovery massage, John has massaged athletes from the Seattle Supersonics and Storm, Seattle Pacific University, Stanford and the University of Washington. He has also worked extensively in Northwest salons and spas as a therapist, trainer and designer and believes that “Everybody is an athlete.”
John has qualified for both the Washington State and the AMTA National Sports Massage teams. He has recently passed the rigorous National Strength and Conditioning Association testing requirements to become a Certified Personal Trainer [NSCA-CPT].
Since 2001, John has been an instructor teaching courses including pathology, hydrotherapy, treatment massage & sports massage. He also supervises the school’s award-winning Field Experience program that brings massage to underserved members of the Northwest community. Additionally he has developed and teaches continuing education courses ranging from Hot Stone Massage and Onsite Techniques to Body Mechanics for Massage Professionals.
John trains for and plays “geezer-ball” in the Puget Sound Senior Baseball League and lives near Green Lake Park in an on-going remodeling project with his girlfriend and her three cats.
